Week 32: Key change in Reflective Practice
My final post discusses features of reflective practice and how this will inform my thoughts
and approach moving forward in this profession. When considering the standards for our

Step 1 (What): Identify one key change in your professional practice
Learning Focused-Culture
- Develop a culture that is focused on learning, and is characterised by respect, inclusion,
- empathy, collaboration, and safety.
- Develop learning-focused relationships with learners, enabling them to be active
- participants in the process of learning, sharing ownership and responsibility for learning.
- Create an environment where learners can be confident in their identities, languages,

My focus this year in particular has been the development of a 21st century learning

completely revolutionized what I prioritize in the classroom. The reflective nature of the course
has also allowed me to really consider where my strengths are in teaching and where I’d like
to develop my knowledge and understanding.

Step 2 (Now what): Evaluate the identified change
Mindlab has endowed me with the confidence to experiment and attempt things in the classroom
which has been incredibly valuable for my learning. Mindlab has given me access to myriads of
information and ideas/concepts that can be applied to the classroom. The shift from traditionalist
approaches in the classroom to a more modern approach has been really rewarding. It has had
it’s challenges indeed, but having the information, research, and validation from my learning has
allowed me to truly explore alternative ways to teach our students. The changes that are at the
top of my priority list are as follows:

Moving forward, I have a number of areas I’d like to improve on or enhance in my practice.
The integration of digital technology is a key focus for me moving forward. This course has shown
me the power of harnessing technology, and utilizing it to maximize student achievement and
engagement. Developing collaborative skills in my students, and equip them with problem solving
skills, which will be paramount for their ever evolving world. Showing our students the value or
creativity and individualism, thinking for themselves and understanding that they too have a voice,
and that voice is important.
